Rev W A Nicholas head of West Texas Children’s Aid and Welfare Association visited the Stamford Rotary Club with Cody the oldest child aged about five describing how four destitute siblings from Aspermont were given to his care. He stated Cody once attended Sunday school but lacked proper clothes and will receive a haircut new attire and schooling plus Sunday school access in Abilene. The remaining children aged from five down to about one and a half will also be placed in good homes.

Baptist Revival Brings Thirty Additions to Church

Seventy Bales Of Cotton Received Up To Wednesday
Seventy bales had been received at the Stamford cotton yard up to Wednesday morning from the to2s crop. The crop is later than last year when 2,570 bales were received by this date, a difference of 2,500 bales. Receipts were rising and were expected to increase rapidly next week. About half the bales were ginned in Stamford, the rest from the Carl Ekdahl gin in the Swedish community east of the city, where the crop is short and opening early due to dry weather.

The Strauss Dry Goods Company owned by Chas Strauss formerly of Hamlin will open in the east side building of the square formerly Piggly Wiggly. The store features new fixtures remodeled show windows and a welcoming appearance. Open by Thursday or Friday with full operations by Saturday. Mr and Mrs Strauss will be in charge assisted by Arte Cassell and Miss Agnes Dillard both of Hamlin and Stamford salespeople. Pouring of Concrete Under Way on State Highway 30
Concrete pouring has begun on State Highway 30 from four miles north of Anson to Stamford. Work started at the south end and will proceed north to Stamford, with heavy materials staging at the south end. If uninterrupted, completion near Christmas is anticipated, with about 60 days of work remaining. The project uses reinforced concrete and is led by contractor Julian Field.
