A Stam ford nutrition program for the fall was outlined after a meeting of the nutrition committee and Miss Margery Vaughn. Vaughn will focus more on preschool children and adult classes while maintaining school activities with shorter class periods. A physical examination of all school children is planned for October. The Delphian Club of Stamford begins its sixth year with a course on Medieval Stories and Modern Fiction led by Mrs J K R Sledge. Friday’s meeting at 4 pm at Russell Morrison home covers discussion of tale versus short story and Greek fiction, with Texas reports by members. The Jones County Teachers Institute plans a two day session November 2 and 3, with N S Holland coordinating. The Chamber of Commerce announces plans for a white way lighting system funded by property owners, estimated at about 100 per standard, to illuminate main streets including South Ferguson.

Abilene business group toured West Texas towns last week arriving in Stamford at 2:40 p.m. Friday greet by city officials and Chamber of Commerce members. Stamford Youth Drowns After Boat Sinks
In Stamford a 14 year old, son of Mr and Mrs Allen Wimbish, drowned when a small boat capsized on a tank near Avoca Wednesday. Two other boys swam ashore while the youth could not swim and died two hours after recovery. Funeral plans were being arranged with services likely at the Symonds place home.
