Eighteen members of Stamford High School's 1928 graduating class announced college plans at a Stamford Rotary luncheon. Many will attend Texas Tech, Simmons University, or the College of Industrial Arts with majors in literature, home economics, teaching, or engineering as local fair organizers outline a fall community fair and a larger 1929 event with grounds, buildings, a race track, and entertainment.

Shrine ceremonial draws 1200 1500 in Stamford turnout
The Shriners of Maskat Temple held their ceremonial in Stamford on Monday attracting an estimated 1,200 to 1,500 Shriners and families. Visitors arrived from Wichita Falls and nearby towns for parades, a barbecue, and initiation rites at City Auditorium, with a special Wichita Falls train bringing the temple band and assist teams.

Pupils must bring bookcards report cards and grade slips and parents should supply full name age address and birth date if needed. First bale of cotton pressed at Stamford gin
The first bale of cotton was brought to Stamford by Li J. Oman from about ten miles southeast, weighed about pounds, and was pressed within fifteen minutes after the throttle opened. Premium of 126.50 was awarded to Mr Cian for his industry. Multiple local firms contributed to the premium, with payments listed from Penick Hughes Co to Stamford American. The bale was bought by Mecander Gin Company.

Roberts Parsons wed at Corinth church with Pecos ties
Eugene Roberts and Miss Leona Parsons were married Saturday night at the Corinth church. Rev. J. H. Edmonds of Anson officiated. Roberts is a Stamford boy who has lived in Pecos and is sister to Mrs. C. M. Morgan. Mrs. Roberts is a daughter of H. Parsons of the New Hope community.

Revival Opens At First Baptist Sunday Morning
Preparations are underway for a Sunday opening of a revival meeting at First Baptist church. The event runs daily through September 25 with services at 10:30 a.m. and 7:45 p.m. Dr J Howard Williams of Corsicana will preach. Rev W C Moffett notes Williams’s charm, speaking power, and revival success. Roy Camp of Fort Worth directs music and is a capable choir director and soloist.

Barrow Builds New Funeral Home For Barrow Furniture Co

Two Miles of City Streets to Be Paved
City plans paving nearly two miles of residential streets and over half a mile of alleys in the business district. Resolutions naming Wells Avenue Reynolds Street Orient Street East Campbell West Campbell South Swenson South Anson and South Hobart will be considered. Alleys totaling 10 blocks will also be paved. Funding from the $75,000 bond may not cover all work, with some funds kept for future paving.
