Alfred Davis 56 long time area supervisor at the Roeser Pendleton Bluff Creek Gas plant east of Lueders died Monday at 5 15 a m in Stamford Sanatorium after five days with a heart ailment. Kinney Funeral Home handled arrangements. Born January 5 1892 in Davenport Iowa he moved to Lueders from Albany in 1941 and from Eliasville in 1925. He married yda Hawkins of Cleo Springs Ola October 30 1912. Survived by his wife two sons Clarence and Roy of Fort Worth two grandsons two brothers and two sisters.

P. R. Bettis captured the city golf title at the Stamford Country Club last weekend. He defeated Gene Swenson for the championship while Cecil Shamburger beat Zen Loop for consolation. Doc Wilson won the first flight and Weaver Medlin the second, with various consolation and medalist honors awarded as over 40 golfers competed. Some Early Cotton Now Being Ginned At Local Gins
Early cotton planted last April is being ginned in the area. About 500 to 660 acres of this early cotton exist and the main crop planted in June is just starting to open. Harvest is expected by October 1 with uncertainty about yield due to recent hot dry winds and possible boll damage. Local acreage is larger than last year, with harvesting likely similar in magnitude.
