Indian evangelist in Stamford Baptist revival speaks on mission

Hee Haws Set Saturday at Sagerton

The third annual Hee-Haw production by Sagerton folks will run Saturday night Dec 1 at 8 p.m. A carnival precedes the event. lunchroom opens at 6 p.m. with supper and booths such as cake walk bingo fishing bean guessing and football throw to follow. Proceeds aid the Sagerton Community Center. Hamline and District AA titlist Alpine meet at 7 30 p m Friday in Andrews for their Class AA regional playoff.

Stamford plans to light downtown streets from 6 p m nightly in response to energy shortages. The city will match last year’s display level but acknowledge reduced brightness due to the energy crisis.

Revival Services at Calvary Baptist Church

Russell-Newman Manufacturing eyeing new Stamford building

Russell-Newman Manufacturing plans relocation from the old Prewitt Building to a newly purchased Stamford facility. Frank Martino says the sale to Cobrum Motor Co owners near the rodeo grounds is agreed, with move aimed by January 1. The firm, a ladies’ lingerie and sleepwear producer with about 50 workers, may add staff for expanded production.

Cottons Packed In Field Modules Slated For Gins

Stamford farmer Billy McKeever introduces a portable module builder to compress harvested cotton into eight to ten bale modules directly in the field. The system, later loaded onto a special trailer and hauled to the gin, aims to reduce trailer bottlenecks and speed ginning while offering uniform bale sizes and long storage with tarped modules.

Bulldogs Open 1973-74 Season With Two Losses

Stamford high school opened its basketball season with losses to Munday 49 32 and Sweetwater 79 63. Stephen Harrell led the Bulldogs with 10 in the Munday game and Pat Gillespie scored 28 against Sweetwater, while Rodger Connell and Don Earl contributed for the Bulldogs in the second game. The girls fell 42-39 to Monday and 66-40 to Lueders Avoca, with Viessan Dillard leading Stamford in both games. Next week the varsity, junior varsity and freshmen boys travel to Colorado City while the girls host Lueders Avoca.
