N. C. Beam, appliance agent for West Texas Utilities in District C, left for Dayton Ohio to attend a Frigidaire refrigeration course. He was among five district winners who earned the trip by meeting sales quotas, joining a party from Ft Worth in two Pullmans. The group will train in Indianapolis for Decoration Day races before Beam returns to Stamford.

Banana Opal Possum Found in Banana Shipment at Local Firm
A tiny marsupial, dubbed a banana opossum, was found living in a Witherspoon Company banana vault after entering with a shipment from New Orleans. The creature, about opossum size with a brown coat and a pouch of young, was captured and placed in a cage, baffling workers about how long it had survived among tropical fruit transit from the West Indies or South America.

Rotary Club Posts Full Attendance at May Meeting

Giant Goodyear Tire Becomes World’s Largest Demonstration
A twelve foot by four foot tire weighing about 3000 pounds, built by Goodyear in Akron, is showcased as the world’s largest tire. The giant casing mirrors a standard All-Weather tread tire in exact dimensions and required three months to construct. Inflation takes forty five minutes at three pounds per square inch, attached to a special bus. Goodyear, the world’s largest rubber company, is expanding with large airship projects for the Navy and plans to tour through the Americas.
