Vera Steely to Attend National Aquatic School at Camp Mystic
Vera Steely will leave next week for Camp Mystic near Hunt Texas to attend the National Aquatic School conducted by the National Red Cross. The camp opens June 4 and runs several days with Rogers Plaisted as director. Courses include first aid life saving and water safety with an Aquatic School certificate awarded on completion. Steely plans to take life saving water safety and possibly first aid. She is a Red Cross life saver and examiner and county life saving chairman. Stamford Red Cross pays her camp expenses.

Remains of Little Girl Buried Thirty Years Ago Moved
The body of Lou Ashburn nine year old daughter of Mr and Mrs G K Ashburn buried in Haskell county 30 years ago was disinterred Sunday and re buried at Fairview cemetery near Tuxedo Dennis Barrow Funeral Home had charge. A group of family and friends attended the grave side and the move was prompted by selling the ranch where the child was buried to be made a cemetery.

Oil and Gas Drive Set by Stamford Chamber of Commerce
On Tuesday June 6 1949 the Stamford Oil and Gas Committee will stage a membership drive for the West Central Texas Oil and Gas Association. A city auditorium meeting at 10 a m will launch the campaign with independent operators expected to attend and participate. Isom L. Bostick 68 or 69 depending on birthday died Tuesday at 4 30 PM at his home two and a half miles west of Tuxedo after illness confined to bed since last August. Funeral at Tuxedo Methodist Church followed by burial in Fairview Cemetery. Survived by wife Elsie Amerson two sons Harold and James two grandchildren four sisters and two brothers. He moved from Hill County to Jones County in 1904 and worked in civil service in Hamlin during the horse and buggy mail era.
