Miss Hybernia Grace Undergoes Operation at Stamford
Miss Hybernia Grace of Anson underwent an appendectomy at Stamford Sanitarium last Friday night and is recovering. The operation caused her to miss the West Texas Historical Society meeting, which has occurred annually since the society began 11 years ago in Lubbock. Grace is a history teacher at Anson High School and daughter of Joe Grace. She serves as chapter president of Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority and attended recent Mu Chapter Founders Day in Lake Sweetwater.

Stamford aviation committee seeks funds for air hangar
The Cham ber of Commerce aviation committee led by Roy Arledge aims to raise several hundred dollars to build a $700 hangar in Stamford. A 40 by 60 foot sheet tree hangar with a gasoline pump would be run by the chamber and accommodate five or six small planes. The group will request a city appropriation after subscriptions are complete. Members include Bill Braymer Upshaw Gay Russell and Gillean.

Two Brothers and Sister Meet After 38 Years
S. R. Green and his wife from Lake Charles Louisiana visited Mrs. J. M. Amerson in Tuxedo last week. They traveled to Sweetwater to see L. M. Green and family. The meetings united brothers separated in childhood after their parents death. Mrs. Amerson had seen L. R. Green nine years ago. The Amerson children and their families joined the visitors at the home. Later they visited two sisters before returning home. Mr. Green had not seen sister Mrs. Ed Cannon in Shamrock 38 years. The other sister Mrs. Della Apperson of Woodward Oklahoma had seen him more recently.

Rainfall totals bring Stamford toward normal for spring
Rain this week pushed Stamford’s total to 3.95 inches, the first meaningful rain since January and near the May normal of 3.21 inches. Earlier in the year only 2.45 inches had fallen, with steady but lighter showers Tuesday. A hard hail storm accompanied a 3.55 inch downpour Monday night, while portions of the area saw half to two inches of rain. North of Stamford, Waii reported a X inch rain and a brief hail burst.

The second half covers about 330 miles starting mid June, with stops in Little Rock, Arkansas, and joining 73 year old Bernard Mac Fadden’s event. Roundup Recreational Building to Cost Ten Thousand

Heavy rains raised the Clear Fork of the Brates river this week causing Stamford to anticipate soft water in about a week to ten days. City Manager Grady Bowdry said the large water basin is filling now and soft water should reach consumers by mid next week.
