Stamford Takes Bronze at Lubbock Region Meet
Stamford athletes earned two third place finishes at the Region 1 AAA meet in Lubbock. Rocky Lewis ran 30.0 in the 300 hurdles, and Lano Gonzales finished third in the 3,200 meters with 10:04.48 after a late surge.

At Friday's district meet the Wylie junior Smith posted 50.24 while Applin led a blistering 49.7 first leg in the 1 600 meter relay, but a muffed handoff and split laps dropped the Bulldogs to last as Brady won the event in a 3 20 62. Perryton placed second with 3 20 86 and Slaton's 3 21 5 was an 1980 record. earlier the Bulldogs had qualified for finals with a 3 22 52 in heat after a 3 28 27 Hamlin race the team had shown strong early speed but could not match the leaders.

Breckenridge led with 40 points but lost 10 due to a false start in the 200 meters. Dale Dixon vaulted 14-7 to anchor the Buckaroo sprint relay. records fell in shot put and 3200 meters as well.
