West Texas Chamber of Commerce to stage Follies at Brownwood
Delegates to the 19th annual West Texas Chamber of Commerce convention in Brownwood May 10 to 12 will enjoy an elaborate revue West Texas Follies of 1937 featuring more than 50 sponsored West Texas girls. The event will be part of a varied entertainment program alongside dances, a band contest, and the My Home Town Speaking contest with many towns already naming sponsors and entrants.

Wilbur Mix led the program and introduced Miss Gille Clark, Albany Lions secretary and Texas’s lone woman honorary member, who gave no greeting. Mrs Mix sang two numbers with piano by Mrs Wid Biggs. Stamford hosts the third annual American Cooking School at City Auditorium for three days culminating in a 625 total attendance, up about 50 percent from last year. Hospital Day Open House Scheduled at Stamford Sanitarium

A $500 gift from T. J. Hendricks of Abilene toward finishing the bunkhouse and headquarters of the oldtime cowboys association was received Thursday morning by Judge C. E. Coombes, along with a $1 registration fee. Hendricks, 74, said he has worked cattle across the region since 1883 and plans to attend the eighth Texas Cowboy Reunion on July 1, 2 and 4.
