New Route Needed for Highway 92 West of Tuxedo
County Judge H G Andrews Jr says a parallel new route to the Stamford Hamlin segment of State Highway 92 is required after Texas Highway Department rejects the proposed path from Tuxedo west. A 120 foot right of way will be bought south of the current road, with a gas pipeline moved to the north side. Financing, with half federal funds, demands a limited access design, but officials say the new route will be comparably costly and work may not start before year end.

City Council Approves New Directors for C of C
The Stamford City Council approved five men named by Lee Walker to become directors of the Chamber of Commerce board and agreed to pay the light bill for Teen-Age baseball at the municipal ball park. Epilepsy Clinic Here Faces Budget Strain and Change
Dr. Emery E. Alling told Stamford Rotarians that Abilene State Hospital, housing 1500 epileptics, would see reforms under pending legislation. Water meters and lead stolen from city pump station recovered in Stamford
Fifty two used water meters and 14 bars of lead, weighing 1483 pounds, were recovered in Stamford after a burglary at the city pump station. Charles Strauss Dies in Dallas Former Resident and Pioneer Merchant
Charles Strauss a former Stamford merchant who lived in Dallas since suffering a 1954 stroke died Monday in Dallas. He toured Europe after selling his business in 1940s and returned with his sons Albert and Theodore assisting his return to Dallas. Funeral services were held Tuesday at Sparkman Branch with burial at Pink Crest Memorial Cemetery. He was survived by five grandchildren.
