Three Men Arrested In Sunday Whiskey Raid
Three men, tenants on the J. W. Reid farm near Tuxedo seven miles west of Stamford, were arrested in a raid by local officers. A 50 gallon still and 100 gallons of mash were captured. They faced charges of making and selling whiskey, were sent to Anson county jail after bonds were fixed by Justice R. C. Thomas, and were backed by Deputy Sheriff M. G. Pugh and Constable J. D. Crow.

Down Town Bible Class Shows Two Special Features
The Down Town Men's Bible Class at the Crystal theater last Sunday morning held two notable activities. The group marched to the church after the lesson, with about forty of the sixty attendees forming pairs to walk up North Swenson avenue under Bill Ray and J. K. Brady. They heard the teacher and the church pastor discuss Why Have a Down Town Men's Bible Class. The Bereans, a class of young men from 12 to 21, received hearty handclaps as they entered. M B Watson of Haskell driving a touring car won the open car division of the final Ford mileage contest held in Stamford last Friday. HW K Abbott of Rule placed second in open cars, driving a Ford roadster. In the closed car division W F Turner of Rule won with seven miles per gallon, L Wilson of Spur second with SAk miles. The field included eleven local contests across Goeree Hamlin Spur Kyle Haskell Anson Stamford Jayton Knox City Aspermont and Keton. The course ran Stamford to Anson to Lueders amid strong winds and bad road conditions.
