Albert Ivy seaman first class in the United States Navy is stationed in Oakland California with his wife Virginia Wallace Ivy also in Oakland. Ivy enlisted in June 1944 after attending Stamford High School and a year at the University of Texas. He trained at San Diego and later worked as a flight dispatcher at Ft. Stockton before joining the service. he will turn 25 in April.

Ray Rushing, formerly of Lueders, is now stationed at Camp Hood after entering the service in February. He previously taught commercial subjects and coached boys at Sudan High School and worked at the Port Arthur shipyards. He starred in college athletics at Abilene Christian College and Hardin-Simmons University, setting a two mile relay record in 1940 at Lawrence Kansas, winning the state mile relay at Denton in 1936, and capturing the Golden Gloves light heavyweight title at Abilene in 1940.
