Lt Satterwhite Awarded Air Medal in Mediterranean Theater
Special to The American reports 1st Lt Henry C. Satterwhite of the 12th AAF B 25 group earned the Air Medal for meritorious achievement during bombing of a railroad bridge in northwestern Italy. The unit led Mediterranean bombing accuracy for six consecutive months and destroyed more objectives with less bomb tonnage than any theater unit. Satterwhite, son of Thomas C. Blanket of Snow Covers Area After Freak Weather Spell

Pennington 79 Hospitalized After Fall With Broken Thigh
Stamford resident H. H. Pennington a 70 year old cotton buyer, fell Friday and sustained a broken thigh. He was taken to Stamford Sanitarium for treatment. This marks a second recent stay at the Sanitarium after a prior car accident left him with crushed shoulder a broken pelvis and injured ankle. he recovered enough to return to work.

Masonic Funeral Service Held for R W Bounds
Funeral service for Robert Wallace Bounds 67 was held Sunday at St John s Methodist Church. He died Saturday at 8 am after long heart illness. Masons gave an honorary escort and conducted rites at Highland Cemetery. Burial followed at Kinney Funeral Home in charge. Bounds born July 27 1877 in Scurry County Alabama came to Texas in 1882 and lived in Milam Stamford Oran Gib town and Temple. He and his wife Callie Sherwood married 1904 and survived by two sons two daughters four grandchildren and siblings. He was in foreign service, with many relatives visiting from Abilene Plainview Levelland Albany Lubbock Wichita Falls Lampasas and other towns.
