He served 11 months in the China Burma India theater as a Tenth Air Force liaison pilot with 250 combat hours and missions including bombing evacuations and reconnaissance. He earned the Distinguished Flying Cross Air Medal and Oak Leaf Clusters for multiple awards.

Cpl Jeronimo A Casaz of Stamford Texas on ambulance duty in England saved a B 17 Flying Fortress pilot crippled by a propeller fragment. In a letter dated last Friday he reported better treatment as the front lines moved closer. He entered service May 29 1944 and trained at Camp Fannin before overseas duty in November 1944.

World Prayer Day Service at Presbyterian Church
Stamford observed World Day of Prayer on February 16 with a daylong Prayer Room in the Presbyterian Church and a 3 PM program in the main auditorium. The candle service highlighted five lights for service men, sick and wounded, prisoners of war, orphans, and missionaries among eight denominations represented with 54 attendees. Former President W K Strother Dies at 74
Former Stamford College president W K Strother 74 died last Friday at his home near Jacksonville after a long illness. He also led Lon Morris College in Jacksonville and served as a Methodist pastor. Funeral was held in Jacksonville. Survivors include his wife three sons Dr W K Strother Jr Dallas Dr C D Strother Sherman and Rev Joe Strother Shawnee Okla two brothers and six grandchildren.

Fifteen Women Complete Home Nursing Course
Fifteen women completed the Standard Red Cross Home Nursing course taught by Miss Catherine Lavelle superintendent of the Stamford Sanitarium in a six week program sponsored by the Oliver Street Parent-Teachers Association. The 24 hour program held at the Oliver Street School included demonstrations at the Stamford Sanitarium and featured a final session where the teacher received gifts from the class.
