Funeral Service For Billie Buie Held Here
Funeral for W. J. Billie Buie II occurred at St. John's Methodist Church Saturday at 10. He died in Mineral Wells from malaria typhoid while en route to a hospital. A Stamford High School honor student and Thomas Jefferson High School graduate, Buie was born April 30, 1921 and lived largely in Stamford. Burial followed at Highland cemetery with local funeral home arrangements by Baum and Carlock of Mineral Wells and Barrow Funeral Home. Survivors include his mother Mrs. J. T. Wilson of Pampa and father W. J. Buie of Mineral Wells.

Frances Prewit daughter of Mr and Mrs D E Prewit won Miss Stamford in the American Legion bathing beauty revue at the municipal pool and will represent Stamford at the Sweetwater festival July 9. Mildred Hood placed second earning a two week pool pass and Helen Smith third earning a one week pass. From 14 contestants the top three were chosen after out of town judges from Fort Worth Dallas and Anson narrowed the field. Approximately 1000 people attended as the revue featured lights, spotlights and a running hour long event.

Seven Babies Born in Local Hospital in Less Than Week
Seven babies born at Stamford Sanitarium between June 18 and June 23, including four girls and three boys. Funeral services for A A Elliott of Albuquerque New Mexico who died of a heart attack were held in Abilene at the Elliott Funeral chapel with Stamford relatives among mourners. Rev Houston Scott and other ministers led the rites. burial followed at Cedar Hill cemetery beside his first wife. Surviving relatives include his wife two sons and five daughters plus a wide circle of siblings and grandchildren.

American Legion Band Uniforms To Arrive Soon
The American Legion band ordered new uniforms Saturday set to arrive June 40 for the Cowboy Reunion. Funds come from local subscriptions with a list of contributors to be announced. Uniforms feature blue and gold armband jackets gold shirts blue trousers with gold braid and Sam Brown belts, made by an Abilene firm. The band, directed by C. M. Watson, will march in the Reunion grand parade and perform at a rodeo night.

Mrs Buckley 81 Dies at Home of Mrs Upshaw
Mrs W T Buckley aged 81 died at the home of her daughter Mrs C F Upshaw from a paralytic stroke Tuesday morning. The body was taken to Holland for funeral services at 5 p.m. Wednesday with Rev D B Blalock of Temple officiating. She was born Kathryn Hamrick in Hickory Mississippi February 15 1856 and married J B Buckley in 1873 at Hickory. The family home was in Holland and she had lived with her daughter Mrs Upshaw and Mrs La B Richards. She leaves six sons J B Buckley Abiine M M Buckley Altus G Buckley E Buckley Temple and B M W Buckley Holland and W B Buckley of Holland and two daughters in Stamford and Waurika Oklahoma. The Kinney Funeral Home arranged the service and burial at Holland Cemetery near her husband’s grave.
