A new oil formation near Avoca and Stamford produced oil after a shallow strike and a potential flow of up to 500 barrels. The well, about 2 1 2 miles north of Avoca, is the first producer in the area and may open a new pool near Lueders. Iron Oil Co and allied firms hold interests in leases across multiple properties.

Stamford and Sagerton tennis players met in two back to back tournaments with Stamford visiting Sagerton last Thursday and Sagerton players visiting Stamford on Sunday. Morita and John Earl Bounds lost in men's doubles while Mie Lucretia Dicken son and Mrs. Joel Johnson won their women's doubles match and Mrs. H. R. Bounds captured the women's singles. Budley Raines Wins City Golf Championship
Budley Raines, a West Texas golfer, won the city championship at the Country Club on Sunday by defeating Warren Cantrell 5 4. In the first flight Pudley Raines beat George Zachary 5 4, and W B Harrison won the second flight over Bob Fleming 2 up. The tournament extended over several weeks.
