Farmers Hear of Possibilities Of Growing Peas in Area
Ashley Mixon a canner and packer of black eye peas from Plainview spoke to a large Stamford group about growing cow peas locally. He said the pea market looks strong with demand for black eye, crowder, and cream peas and noted a crop yield of 800 to 1000 pounds per acre on dry land. He recommended 20 pounds per acre, planting as soon as soil dries, stopping by August 1, and 85 to 95 days to harvest. Seed costs quoted: crowder 15 per cwt, black eye 18, cream 25.

J C Register age 44 died Tuesday at 2 p m in Lueders from a heart attack after discharge from Anson Hospital. Funeral Thursday 3 p m at Bethel Baptist Church with Rev Miles B Hays and Rev Jesse Swindell. Burial in Bethel Cemetery Funston. Survivors include wife Ollie Pearl Patty of Lueders, a daughter Mrs Mike Latimer of Abilene, two sons Donnie J and Mel Stephens of Lueders, mother Mrs Mollie Cooper Register of Dallas, four brothers Guy L JD Claudis Floyd all of Dallas, and other relatives. He was born October 25 1910 in Jones County and worked as an operator for the Lueders oil refinery.

Parade Opens Texas Cowboy Reunion Big Show
