H D Delegates Named for State Meeting

Jones County Home Demonstration Council met with 24 members and 20 visitors in the county court house jury room. Delegates were chosen for a short course at A M College July 12 13 14 and for the Texas State convention at Lubbock September 6 7 8. Land Use Survey Of Jones County Underway

Anson June 15 A county land use planning survey is under way led by Floyd Lynch and the county land use planning committee. Letters with report sheets have been mailed to every farmer to compile a complete farm by farm report for a future range program and remedy of defects. Assistance is offered by Lynch’s office and Chamber of Commerce secretaries if forms need help.

145 Members Enrolled in West Central Texas Oil Association

About 145 members have joined the West Central Texas Oil and Gas Association since the drive began last week. The business men have not all been contacted yet, and organizers expect to finish the campaign by week’s end.

Soft Ball Game Thursday Evening at Local Field

The Walker Food Store and Lane Market softball team will face Hamlin Motor Company of Hamlin at the softball field south of the swimming pool on Thursday night June 15 starting at 3 30. Admission is 10 cents. In other action Sinclair Oilers of Stamford defeated Anson AAA 10 to 1 in a game that was closer than the score suggests.

Daily Vacation Bible School Ends Friday Night

Closing exercises at First Baptist Church Friday night at 8 o'clock will feature a brief program and display the school’s work. The school enrolled 204 pupils and includes children from Central Presbyterian and First Baptist churches.

Stamford Camp Fire girls explore attending summer camps run by Camp Fire girls in Wichita Falls or Fort Worth. They have received literature on requirements and schedules. Crownover Wins Golf Title for Stamford Club

Rusty Crownover captured the Stamford Country Club golf championship by beating Buster in the final match of the first flight 5-4 after a weekend tournament. W. C. Werner defeated George Rollina 1 up in the first flight consolation. Charles Markham beat Irving Moody 4-2 in the fourth flight finals. Knox Baird won the second flight 5-4 over Cash Wise man. Hangar Construction at Stamford Airport Under Way

Body of Baby Found Hidden In Trash Pile

The infant’s body, wrapped in a five-gallon can, was found in a Stamford trash pile near the gin company seed house. An inquest ruled the baby was fully developed and had breathed, with no determination of how long it lived. Local authorities investigated. no charges filed.

Los Angeles Editor to Attend Texas Cowboy Reunion

Frank M. King of Los Angeles, associate editor of the Western Livestock Journal, plans to attend the Texas Cowboy Reunion this year. He will arrive on July 4 after a Canadian Rodeo stop on July 2 and travels from Stamford. King is sent by the Union Stockyards of Los Angeles and is a regular at the reunions. Norris Russell, son of Mr and Mrs BE Russell, returned from a 10 day trip to Newton and Jackson Mississippi, where he attended Milshap College in 1907-40.
