A two day 4-H encampment at the Baptist Encampment grounds in Lueders is led by C. C. Jobson and Miss Sue Bonner with help from extension agents. 150 to 200 members are invited, registration starts Monday at 4 p.m. and dinner follows an 80 minute sing along and inspirational talk focused on recreation.

Mrs. J M Cosstephens age 72 pioneer of Jones county died Sunday at Stamford Sanitarium after emergency appendicitis operation. Funeral at St John’s Methodist church Monday with Rev C R Hooton officiating. Burial in Fairview cemetery. Survived by two daughters Mrs W J Buie and Mrs W H Peters and six grandchildren.

A Benevolence Board was organized at St. John’s Methodist Church Sunday afternoon under Rev. C. R. Hooton. Officers: Joel Johnson chairman Frank Locke vice chairman Mrs. Sallie T. Pate secretary. The first benevolence offering will be given at the altar during communion on Sunday July 2. Afterward the Stanford congregation will adjourn to Lueders for a joint outdoor luncheon and meeting with nearby towns.

Dayle Middleton left Stamford Wednesday for Kansas City to start training for a postal inspection position offered after thirteen years at the Stamford Post Office. A Stamford resident since 1916, he attended Stamford High School and began work in 1920. He is a Mason, Exchange Club and K P Lodge member, active at St John’s Methodist Church.

Famous Roper Of Big Lake Accepts Reunion Invitation
J Ellison Carroll of Big Lake will judge the Texas Cowboy Reunion rodeo in Stamford July 3 4 and 5. He shares the judging with Frank Rhoades of Throckmorton. Carroll, famed roper from 1898 1904, once tied for world champion and later served as Reagan County sheriff and now runs a livestock commission business.
