The home of Dewey Stubbs on North Swenson Avenue burned Saturday night around nine o clock during electrical disturbances. A lightning strike is suspected to have caused the rapid destruction of the house and its contents. The building was partly insured.

Former Stamford Resident A M Hays Dies In Aspermont
A M Hays, formerly of Stamford, died Sunday afternoon in Aspermont after years as an invalid. Funeral services were held there Monday with Rev. W C Moffett assisting. Attending relatives included Mr and Mrs J M Martin Mrs T C Hart Mrs Fannie Meeker and Mrs Beulah Gould. The widow and several children survive. Byron Lewis and his wife left Thursday for Washington DC and New York.

Voters in the Sagerton road district approved $125,000 in bonds for Highway 18 paving, carrying 211 to 65 overall. In Sagerton box 157 favored and 84 opposed, while Bunker Hill reported 54 for and 17 against, boosting regional paving plans across Haskell and neighboring counties.

Commencement exercises for the Daily Vacation Bible School will be held tonight at 8 pm at the church. The program features songs memory work marches flag salutes and short plays. Bussey Wins West Texas Golf Title At Abilene
N C Bussey a Texas Tech student from Lubbock defeated J Dixon White to win the West Texas Golf Association championship at Abilene. Bussey led early and held off White to claim the crown from Dennis Lavender with a 37th hole finish after a 36 hole match. Other winners included Don Mitchell who won the driving contest with 784 yards, and the Lubbock Country Club four man team taking the team prize.
