Insanity ruling settles death case in Fisher County
Bill Smith alias Joyce Shapard, condemned for Deputy Sheriff Jake Owens's slaying, was deemed insane by a Anson jury. He was ordered committed to the insane ward at Rusk penitentiary. Sheriff Pickett transported Smith in restraints after the verdict, with doctors and officials testifying. Local guests were noted in Roby.

Farm Community Suffers Heavy Losses In Storm
A cyclone struck Center Point near Stamford causing about 10000 in damage. Eight or more dwellings and 15 barns were damaged or destroyed. Joe Davis and his daughter escaped on a porch as their house was carried away except the porch floor. Mrs. Davis and several children sought a storm house and were uninjured. The Hoehn lease house, Owens home, and Geter farms suffered substantial losses with various insurance arrangements noted.

The Anson men's Sunday school class of the Methodist church will visit St. John's Brotherhood Class in Stamford on Sunday June 16 for Sunday school and church services. At noon the two classes will share dinner arranged by the local Woman's Missionary Society. County Attorney Otis Miller, formerly of Stamford, heads the Anson group. This visit is a return gesture for the Brotherhood class's prior trip to Anson.

Sagerton District Votes on $125,000 Highway Bond
Voters in Road District No 7 in Haskell county Sagerton district go to the polls Saturday to approve a $125,000 road bond for Highway 18 from the Jones county line near Stamford to the Fisher county line near Sagerton about 20 miles. A rally in Sagerton featured Judge W R Ely and Stamford speakers urged support.

Clyde Baker Released on Bond After Two Years in Jail
Clyde Baker, called negress, was granted bond of 2000 by Judge W R Chapman at the April Term. She faces trial in September for the murder of her husband Charley Baker in Stamford. Baker had been jailed since 1927, pleaded not guilty in 1928, and a 30 year verdict was overturned by the state appeals court. She is to remain near Stamford until trial.
