Wheat farmers nationwide vote on a referenum June 20 with polls 8 am to 7 pm. Eligible voters must own more than 15 acres of wheat including reserve wheat. Two thirds approval required to set quotas for 1958 crop. penalties apply for excess wheat if quotas pass. If fails, allotments stay with 50 percent parity support. Mrs. Mary A Duke aged 85 died at 2 am June 6 at her daughter Mrs Lillie Howe's Ranger home after a stroke on Sunday. Funeral held at Christian Church Ranger with Gordon Cemetery burial. She was born in Weatherford, lived in Mingus, survived by three daughters seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

Local Merchant DD Hassen Dies at Stamford Family Home
Preeminent Stamford merchant DD Hassen died at his family home after a long illness. Born in Lebanon August 15, 1881, he came to the United States at age 11 and settled in Stamford from Mineral Wells in 1925, later becoming a citizen in 1928. He was active in Rotary, Masonry, and his church, survived by his wife Frieda Saab, a son Fareed Haseen, two sisters, and a nephew in Liberia. Funeral was held at St. John’s Methodist Church with burial at Mightland Cemetery. Masonic rites were observed.
