Mrs Alvin Holle, three miles east of Laverton, exhibited a giant cabbage at The American weighing 8 pounds 14 ounces and 37 inches in circumference. She notes this is one of many large heads in a thriving garden that also yields English peas beans cucumbers carrots mustard greens and turnip greens. Mrs Helle adds irrigation helped last year and hopes for a pork heavy winter with chops and sauerkraut.

Mrs. Ophelia Cushenberry Ferguson aged 83, born in Franklin Kentucky, died June 12 at Odom Clinic Hospital in Memphis Texas. She lived in Stamford from 1901 to 1942 with her husband, a retired railroad man. Funeral held June 1942 at Kinney Chapel with Vernon Mayfield officiating. Burial in Highland Cemetery. Pallbearers from Stamford and Abilene. Survived by two brothers Hugo Cushenberry and Vernon Cushenberry.
