Thieves used nitro glycerine to blast the Union Passenger Station safe on Wednesday night in Stamford. A $150 till was emptied but no other valuables were touched. Ammonia in the vault broke in the blast, delaying further work. Local, state, and Denver system officers joined the probe, with fingerprint expert Redeese leading efforts. The station interior was damaged and a window shattered by flying debris.
