W G Swenson president of Texas Affiliated Exchange Clubs left for Austin on Tuesday to attend the state convention in session June 19 and 20. Swenson was elected at Stamford last June after serving one term as first vice president. Local members Louis Rosenwasser Dr W C Baird and Albert M Hess attended the Austin meeting. Entertainment plans include a trip to San Antonio Friday after adjournment to see the Randolph Field dedication, touted as the nation’s largest best equipped flying field.

Pioneer minister J H Edmonds dies in Anson
The death of Rev. J. H. Edmonds in Anson Tuesday morning marks the passing of a pioneer Baptist pastor who served Jones County many years. He lived 46 years in Jones County and held twelve pastorates in 32 years of ministry. At his death he led Bethel and Boyd Chapel churches and died after a heart attack during a revival. Funeral was held in Anson conducted by Rev. Millard A Jenkens of Abilene First Baptist. He is survived by his wife, a sister, four daughters and three sons.

New Well East Of Stamford Drilling Advances

The Exchange club held a brief meeting last Friday with few attendees and planned sending representatives to the state convention. The June 27 date was moved to June 25 to avoid clashing with the Cowhey Reunion, and Hen L. Cartwright spoke on The Spare Tire. D P Talley Dies Suddenly On Way To Office
D P Talley a veteran secretary of the Kyle Jayton Cotton Oil Company collapsed on a Stamford street near the Piest State Bank Building around 2 pm Thursday. Rescue efforts failed and he died en route to Kinney-Kie undertakers. He was about 60 years old, a Stamford resident for five years, with family in Cranes Canyon, Wichita Falls, Cranes, and other Texas towns. Funeral arrangements pending.

R. A. Jay of Jayton Dies in Stamford After Illness
R A Jay aged 54 of Jayton died in Stamford on Tuesday night from acute appendicitis. The Penrick-Hughes Funeral Home prepared the body for burial and the service was held in Jayton with burial in Jayton Cemetery. He was a prominent local cattleman and banker and last served as credit manager for Bryant Link Co. Survived by his wife and three children.
