Rodeo Promises Chief Entertainment at Stamford Cowboy Reunion
The seventh annual Texas Cowboy Reunion in Stamford July 2 3 and 4 features a rodeo as the main entertainment with cowhands from ranches expected to attend. Seven rodeo events spread across three daily performances include bronc busting calf roping steer riding and wild cow milking with cash prizes. A junior steer riding contest July 3 4 and a calf roping event for riders over 55 July 2 3 are planned. A cutting horse contest July 3 emphasizes horse skill over rider. The rules change eliminates elimination rounds and the event runs all morning with final ratings by judges.

WPA projects employ 350 in Jones County as program nears close
A county check shows 350 men and women have been employed on WPA projects in Jones County as the program nears its June 30 close. Projects include 24 miles of gravel roads, dam work for Anson, Stamford pool improvements, sewer upgrades at Hamlin, and sewing rooms with 51 workers. The program may continue into the next year to finish units and connect with farm to market roads.

Boy Scout Trip to Davis Mountains Delights Stamford Group
