A storm dumped 1.30 inches in Stamford in 20 minutes on Wednesday afternoon with strong winds and hail. Lightning struck at least two Stamford homes causing smoke and electrical damage. Additional rainfall followed on May 25 and over the next days, with surrounding towns recording varied totals.

Wood Land Deal Closed in Stamford Settlement Reached
City of Stamford and J L Wood signed papers finalizing an outright land purchase and easement, ending months of talks. Wood had sued the city over damages to his land from the lake and named West Texas Utilities Co, which runs a power plant on the lake and buys city water. The judge had dismissed the suit against the utility. a compromise was reached before trial. Wood received 4206 per her the total payment included 29000 from the city and 3000 from the utilities company.

Two Receive Shock From TV Antenna Incident
Barbara Davis and Ike Middlebrook were shocked Wednesday afternoon when Barbara grabbed a live TV antenna wire and pulled Ike in to help. Electricity was cut off to free them. Barbara was hospitalized briefly and both are expected to be discharged soon. Mr and Mrs C M Lester plan Thursday travel to Beaumont then Nederland for a wedding.
