Quick Rescue Saves Girl From Drowning at Pool
Twelve year old Patsy Singletary nearly drowned at the five foot pool Sunday evening. Lifesavers Dan Martin and Mack Zimmerman pulled her from the water and performed artificial respiration. She was rushed to Stamford Sanitarium and treated with penicillin and later discharged, with her mother arriving at the hospital.

Mrs Artie Lewis Dies in Plainview Hospital At 14
Mrs Artie Lewis aged 14 and mother of Byron Lewis of this city died Sunday in a Plainview hospital. Funeral was held Tuesday at the First Baptist Church of Plainview where she was a member. She had moved to Plainview May 1 to live with daughters and had lived in Stamford the past three years with Byron Lewis. Survived by husband and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

First Baptist Vacation School Opens June 6
A two week Vacation Bible School will start Monday June 6 at the First Baptist Church with Ret Tatta as principal. Preparation day is Saturday June 4 at 8:30 a.m. at the church for registration and instruction. A Trinity Baptist parade will leave the church at 9:30 a.m. followed by a refreshment period at Harmon Park. Commencement is Thursday night June 16 at 7:30 p.m. at the church and a picnic will follow on June 17 at Lueders Encampment grounds.

Camp Sweeney Movie Shown to Rotarians

Two Girls To Attend Aquatic School
Hollis Rae Haynes and Sue Mickler left for a ten day American Red Cross National Aquatic school at Lake Murray Ardmore Oklahoma. They will be delegates from the Jex County Red Cross chapter which will finance the trip to ensure qualified instructors for the summer swimming courses. They will become fully qualified swimming and water safety instructors after the course. Plans are underway for Red Cross swimming classes at the municipal swimming pool later this summer. Hollis Rae is the daughter of Mr and Mrs Hollis Haynes and just graduated Stamford High School. Sue is the daughter of Mr and Mrs Jess Mickler and recently graduated Paint Creek school.
