Open House Planned at Camp Odako For Girls
Camp Odako at Lueders Baptist Encampment grounds hosts an open house Thursday for parents and guests. About 100 girls are in camp with supper at 6:30 p.m. and arrivals after 5:30 p.m. Camp breaks Saturday morning between 8:30 and 10:00, with a council fire ceremony Friday night led by Mrs. John Bennett.

Last Rites Held For Mrs. A. L. Conner
Funeral services for Mrs. Emma Isabel Conner aged 75, longtime resident of the Stamford area, were held at the Stamford Church of Christ. She died Monday after a heart attack and was interred in New Hope cemetery beside Kinney Funeral Home. Survivors include her husband, two sons, four daughters, ten grandchildren, two great grandchildren, a sister, and five brothers.

Council Takes No Action On Request To Omit Meters In New Square Parking
The City Council discussed a request from Retail Trade Committee members James Turner Marvin Hinds Roy Duke and W C Leavitt to keep the center square free of meters while meters would remain on outer sidewalks. No decision was made, and any change would require a townwide vote. City workers removed unused outer square meter posts and will continue removing meters in areas no longer used as parking. The project advances with curb work finished and a four foot sidewalk to be paid by the city, while dirt from the site is used at Highland Memorial cemetery for beautification.

Second Polio Shots Scheduled for July 29
Second Salk shot for polio will be given Friday July 29 at the home economics cottage. Mrs. Clay Markham, the school nurse, announced. First and second graders who received their first shot on April 20 and 21 will return for the second dose at 9 am or later. Stamford doctors and nurses will assist in the administration as part of a statewide Health Department program offering free polio vaccine.

City Employees Vote on Social Security Coverage
