Pettijohn Killed While Prisoner of German Government
First Lieutenant Willis Terrell Pettijohn was killed in action while a prisoner of war in Germany on March 28, as his wife Rubine Clark Pettijohn was informed by the War Department. He had overseas service beginning September 1944 after training at Camp Edwards Ft. Roring and Camp Wolters. He married April 16 1943 and left a daughter Sue then a year old. He is survived by his wife, two parents, four brothers and a sister with residences in Stephenville Berkeley Ranger Plain View and Stephenville.

Sgt John Dobyns left on Tuesday for Sioux Falls S D after a furlough. He recently returned from England where he served 26 months as an armament chief with a heavy bombardment squadron of the Eighth Air Force Liberators. The Brotherhood Class of St. John s Methodist Sunday School held a chicken barbecue at the Cowboy Reunion grounds on Wednesday night to settle an attendance contest. The Longhorns led by Jesse White defeated the Buffaloes led by J L Rucker. About 54 men attended. Jesse White barbecued, Sam White made coffee, Coleman Tunnell and G W Trawick assisted, and John Massey secured the chickens.

City Has Plentiful Water Supply From Heavy Rain
