Record-Breaking Crowd Fills Stamford For 26th Texas Cowboy Reunion Parade
A crowd of about 25 000 packed Stamford streets for the 26th annual Texas Cowboy Reunion parade opening. The event featured 399 horses, numerous western floats, and performances by Hardin-Simmons Cowboy Band, Stamford High School band, and a steam calliope. Notable floats celebrated Bethel Lutheran Church history and Anson celebration preparations with youth groups and Patsy Baugh winning an entry prize.

Marvin Elliott Dies Suddenly at Stamford Sanitarium
Marvin Earl Elliott 69, tailor shop owner and Stamford resident since 1921, died of a heart attack Sunday morning at the Stamford Sanitarium after earlier attacks. He was born December 27, 1886, in Kaufman County and married Freda Salmon in 1917. Survived by wife, three sons, four grandchildren, and several siblings. funeral held Tuesday at Central Christian Church with burial in Highland Cemetery.

West Texas Rodeo Showcases Vast Horse Presence in Stamford
A Stamford rodeo drew crowds and horses from West Texas with 63 registered quarter horses on display. The downtown parade featured 399 horses, and about 390 appeared in the arena for the grand entry, as riders continued entering while Scandalous John Selmon led the parade out.

Tribute Paid To Deceased Oldtimers
Twenty three Texas Cowboy Reunion Association members who died in the past year were honored at a memorial service held at the Bunk House. Rev. S H Sublett gave the memorial address and speakers recounted the lives of the deceased as mourners filled the room. A memorial wreath and orange glass arrangement were displayed at the front.

Five riding clubs and sheriff s posses joined a Monday parade and the rodeo grand entry. Awards went to Eastland County Sheriff s Posse first, Haskell Saddle Tramps second, Stonewall County Sheriff s Posse third. Oklahoma Man Wins Oldtimers Saddle at Texas Reunion
Jesse Gann of Foster Oklahoma won the saddle in the Texas Cowboys Reunion oldtime cowboys call roping contest for 55 and older competitors. His 22 second time topped 33 ropers. Ned Garrison of Childress finished second with 22.3, followed by Cliff Bird of Spur 24.2 and O K Lowrance of Mill Creek 24.4.

Former Jones County Man Joins Association
D. L. Weisenhunt of Fort Worth is a new member of the association this year. He and his wife visited Stamford for their first reunion on Sunday. He has ranches in Parker county and near Clifton Arizona and once lived on the Ten Ranch south of Anson as a boy on his grandfather Dr. L Middleton’s property. He left the area in 1904.

Calf Roper Breaks Leg at Stamford Arena
Denny Rogers of Wichita Falls suffered a broken right leg when a cow jerked a horse during the slack roping period of the wild cow milking contest Monday morning at the Theooder arena. He was transported by Kinney Ambulance to Stamford Sanitorium for X ray confirmation and is reported as recovering satisfactorily.
