Stamford Bulldog Coach Receives Abilene Reporter-News Coach of the Year

Jerry Taylor led the Stamford Bulldogs to a 10-2 season, capturing both the District 6-AA title and district crown before a Fabens playoff loss. Native of Stamford, he previously coached at Abilene High and Stamford, moving up after Bill Anderson left. Taylor edged Don Mullins, Dave Edmiston, and Allan Gibbs for the honor. Bulldogs players honored include Marty Gomez, Mike Cox, and Edward Gardner on the second team offense.

Bells Are Ringing senior play opens with Midas Touch scene

A 1980 senior play opens tonight in the high school auditorium with Bells Are Ringing. The cast lists 19 students across three rows led by Doug Howard and Matt Rainer. Shows begin at 7 30 p m with a second performance set for Saturday night.

Curtain Opens at SHS Senior Play Bells Are Ringing Night

The SHS Class of 1980 presents Bells Are Ringing tonight at 7:30 in the high school auditorium with Camden Green and Stein as authors and Tams Witmark arrangements. A second performance is Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Special effects include a mirror ball church bells a wooden telephone booth and a 1920s Philco radio. The play features songs Me and My Girl The Party's Over and more.

Area Baptists host Knox City Evangelism Conference

The Double Mountain Area hosts its annual Evangelism Conference at First Baptist Knox City on Tue Jan 29. Sessions begin 2 PM and 6:45 PM with a 6 PM choir rehearsal. Local marchers brave weather for donations

Inclement weather on Tuesday January 22 did not halt the March of Dimes Campaign in Stamford. Stamford Young Homemakers club members and volunteers canvassed the city and collected about 600 dollars for birth defects research. Earl McCaleb elected chairman with Bob Craig as vice chairman and Clyde Hall as secretary.
