Harry Bounds and wife Allene Bounds were held up near their home at 597 East Davenport street around 7 30 PM Tuesday. Two men fled in a car after taking about 300 in cash and checks from the couple who were preparing to drive to the bank to report receipts. Chief Flournoy investigates.
The Stamford Poultry Show concluded last Friday night as the most successful in years with higher numbers and quality. Judges R. L. Young of Abilene presided as prize winners are listed across White Leghorns Barred Rocks Wyandottes and other breeds with Stamford entries dominant in many classes.
The Central West Texas Poultry Association based in Stamford plans cooperative marketing of eggs starting next week. Jack Denerson appointed manager, will relocate family to Stamford, and oversaw setup in old Walker-Smith building. Col. R. L. Penick is president with directors from Anson Hamlin Haskell Roby Swenson Rotan Munday Stamford Lueders Rule Aspermont.
The Vernon D Hart Post of the American Legion plans a large delegation to the district Legion convention at Abilene Saturday evening and Sunday. Some delegates depart Saturday afternoon, some Saturday night, others Sunday morning. Transportation will be provided for attendees lacking means, arranged through Frank Locke.
More than an inch of rain fell in Stamford and vicinity with 1.05 inches recorded at Lyles Economy. The moisture aids soil for winter plowing and stock water tanks, as drought had depleted supplies. Last Sunday drew strong Presbyterian Church attendance and a visit by Rev. Chas H. McDonald D D, secretary of Men’s Work. The year begins with hopes of growth in numbers and spirituality as Stamford’s churches plan events.
Stamford celebrated its annual firemen banquet at the Stamford Inn with prominent guests from Stamford and Anson. Fire Chief Dick Rowland acted as toastmaster and introduced speakers including Judge E. Coombes Col R L Penick Mayor Warren Tayman Rev Mr Garner and Anson Chief Edwards.
Clyde Daniel of the Texas Farm Bureau Cotton Association reports growing support for cooperative marketing with a target sale of 15 000 bales. He notes increased production potential, better seed, and quality improvements, praising bankers and newspapers for backing producer welfare. He cites cooperative offices in Hamlin Merkel and Bradshaw as models and signals interest from leaders in other communities.
Twenty five members of the Stamford band led by director Dick Rowland travel by automobile to Fort Worth to broadcast from WRAP tonight. Soloist P. McDonald and accompanist Mrs J. C. Pinson join. program hour moved to 10 o clock. The concert, tied to West Texas Chamber of Commerce meetings, features Stamford talent and includes several numbered pieces and band solos.

T N Morgan announces candidacy for public weigher in Stamford Precinct 2. He has long resided in Stamford and previously held the office, bringing education training and experience. He pledges honest efficient service and accurate record keeping. Mr and Mrs Henry Donalson have left for Quitaque Texas for several weeks.
