FFA Project Show Draws Interest on Stamford Square
The first 1957 FFA project show in Stamford was judged by Clemon Montgomery of Big Spring with awards given by Birger Haterius. Entries ranged across cattle, dairy, sheep and wool, with grand and reserve champions named in numerous classes. The next show is planned for February 1 at the Texas Cowboy Reunion grounds in Hamlin.

March of Dimes Fundraising at Stamford Country Club Dance
Stamford Country Club to host a March of Dimes dance Saturday night starting at 9 p.m., led by Dr. Ike Hudson, with B. Q Cooper as county fund chairman. Other drives include VFW greyhound race in New Hope and Lions Club coffee day. Mothers March via PTA Council raised $275.05 with nine captains and helpers.

Three Area Men to Attend State Soil Meeting

Stamford Public Schools on Thursday announced three year contract for head coach Gordon L. Wood and two year deals for assistants M. Isbell Larry V Wartes and Bill Anderson. All receive salary increases in line with Class AA head coaches. Superintendent Johnson praised the returning staff as good men and teachers.

Federal Drouth Relief Discussed Amid Southwest Plight
President Eisenhower toured the drought stricken Southwest from San Angelo to Wichita and Congress debated extra aid. Texas leaders sponsored a bill for 76 million in drought relief including feeding aid, extended conservation funds, and refinancing farm debt. The plan also envisions a wide Soil Conservation program with deferred grazing to recover pastures and prevent desertification.

Miss Ida Crow of Avoca aged 83 celebrated one year as a patient with a sentimental cap ceremony at Stamford Sanitarium. She fell injuring a leg last year and was found by her nephew after hours.
