Team members of the Lueders Pirates will be honored in the Lueders High School Auditorium Friday night at an annual banquet sponsored by the seniors and the school pep squad. Mrs John Bennett received the First Lady of Camp Fire award in Stamford at a council meeting presented by H G Andrews Jr. J W Weaver was elected president succeeding Cliff Cobb. Council OKs Perpetual Care for All Cemetery
Highland Cemetery lots will be sold with perpetual care from now on. The council approved the cemetery board’s recommendation and boosted monthly city contributions to cover operations. Dick Rowland said 80 of 1350 old-section owners have perpetual care, 600 cannot be located, 324 pay nothing. He noted old section maintenance costs exceed $3,300 yearly, with weed control and curbs costly. Bond revenue funds maintenance, about $24,000 in the bond account. Unpaid old-section spaces revert to the association for future sale with perpetual care. Rowland Haynes Kinney were reappointed. terms expire this year.

Councilmen Deny Plea To Reduce Tax Valuation
Stamford city council rejected A C Humphrey's plea to cut the Wooten Wholesale Grocery Co building tax value from 16 000 to 7 500. They urged appeal to the board of equalization, noting valuations were set in 1950 for water bonds and that the city adjusts tax rates to raise needed funds. The council instructed the city manager to return Humphrey’s checks.

Monday Minister To Speak Here Sunday Night
James Hallmark, minister of the Church of Christ in Munday, will speak on Why I Became a Member of the Church of Christ at the Sunday evening service January 15 at 6 o clock at Oliver Street Church of Christ. He has worked in TV promotions and news directing roles in Abilene and Wichita Falls before becoming a full time evangelist in Munday in July 1960.

Two Injured In Saturday Auto Collision Near Stamford
Two people were admitted to Stamford Sanitarium after a collision between a car and a bus on Highway 277 south of Stamford. James Hall, 25, and his daughter Cynthia, 7, suffered rib and scalp injuries. The car, driven by James Hall, pulled out to pass and crashed into a culvert railing after skidding. The bus carried 33 passengers with no injuries. Damage to the bus was about 75 dollars. The Hall vehicle was totaled. Stamford utilities lineman James Hall was not admitted. Investigating officers were Highway Patrolman Oscie Renfrow, F J Terrell, and Stamford Chief B Q Cooper.
