The Lee Grabel Revue arrives in Stamford under Rotary Club sponsorship with a 1955 production featuring exotic sequences and a magic act including a cannon escape. Two shows are set for 4 PM and 7 PM at the High School Auditorium to raise funds for the Youth Center and include advance ticket sales managed by local youth members.

Heart Attack Fatal to W. A. Sledge in Stamford
W A Bill Sledge, 64, Jones county farmer and World War I Navy veteran, died of a heart attack at 11:35 a.m. His funeral was held at New Hope Baptist Church with burial in Highland Cemetery. He was born in Granbury in 1891, served in three naval battles and returned in 1919. He married Hattie Faris in 1920 and lived on a farm near Stamford. survivors include his wife, a son, four brothers, two sisters, and two grandchildren.

Lueders Resident Andy Veal Dies at 93 After Long Illness
Andy Veal, lifelong Lueders resident since 1910, died at his home Friday night after a lengthy illness. He was 93, born September 30, 1862 in Monroe County Tennessee. Funeral services were held January 1 at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church Lueders with local ministers presiding. Burial followed in Highland Cemetery Stamford. He is survived by his wife, son Cyrus Veal, three daughters, eleven grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren. Veal helped establish Lueders Baptist Church and was a long time member. pallbearers were church senior deacons.

Nancy English two year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert English spent Christmas in Haskell hospital. She suffered a broken collar bone a sprained right shoulder and a head wound requiring five stitches after falling from a cabinet while watching her father at work. She remains in a brace but hopes to remove it soon and had to relearn walking after the weight on her head.
