Sagerton Woman Mrs P N Lusk Dies At 79

Mrs. P N Lusk of Sagerton aged 79 died Friday at Stamford Sanitarium after eight days hospitalization. Born Tennie Darden in 1877, she married Mr. Lusk in 1909 and lived in Sagerton since 1913. Survived by husband and brother O L Darden of Haskell. services were held December 9 at Kinney Funeral Chapel with burial in Fairview cemetery.

Million's Quarterback Club Elects Officers and Plans Meeting

The final Quarterback Club gathering of the year is set for Tuesday night January 8 at 7:30 in the high school auditorium. All squad mothers and interested ladies are invited. Harry Johnson is receiving medical treatment at Stam ford Sanitarium. His daughter Carrie Jean is also in the hospital and expected to be dismissed Thursday.

Mrs B M Todd Breaks Knee in Fall at Stamford Home

Mrs B M Todd sustained a broken left knee Tuesday about 1 40 p m as she fell at the Garland Mitchell home while a lunch guest. She was taken by Kinney ambulance to the Stamford Sanitarium where she is improving.

Wheelbarrow Derby Opens Stamford March of Dimes Drive

The Stamford Jaycees host a Saturday wheelbarrow derby at 2 p.m. weather permitting to raise funds for the March of Dimes. Teams led by Kenneth Lafferty and Gene Turnbow race two wheelbarrows. donations collected along highways. Stamford set a $3500 goal, aiming higher after last year’s $2945.95.

Scouters Training Course Set for Saturday in Northern District

Scouters basic training for the Northern district covering Haskell Jones Shackelford and Stonewall counties will be held Saturday January 5 at the National Guard armory. The session runs 1 to 5 pm and 6 to 8 pm with about 50 attendees expected including scout masters and committee members. A cub training course is planned for February in Stamford.

Maxwell Baby Dies Tuesday in Stamford

Infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Maxwell of Abilene died at Stamford Sanitarium Tuesday afternoon after a birth the previous day. Funeral services were held Wednesday in Kinney Funeral chapel with burial in Highland cemetery Babyland. Survivors include the parents a brother and multiple grandparents and great grandparents.

Priest Year on Record Ends With 7.91 Inches of Rain

Tidwells Hurt In Accident Near Jayton

Mr and Mrs E C Tidwell of Levelland formerly of Stamford suffered injuries in a highway crash near Jayton Christmas night. They were taken to the Methodist Hospital in Lubbock. Mrs Tidwell has multiple fractures and will be unable to walk for about three months. Their son Jack Tidwell is Stamford’s police chief.

Darla Shelton Wins TB Essay Contest

Darla Shelton of Avoca won first place in the Jones County TB essay contest sponsored by the Jones County Tuberculosis Association.
