Victory party honors Stamford Bulldogs state title win

Stamford celebrated the State AA football championship with a Friday victory party at the National Guard armory. Parents led the event with scenes of Go Mighty Bulldogs and Stomp Stamford as crowds, food from the community, a juke box, and a downtown parade followed the game.

Three Youths Hurt In Highway Crash Near Lagerton

Three youths T A Park 18 Don Welch 17 and Gene Bounds 19 were injured in a 1:50 am Sunday wreck on Highway 380 twelve miles northwest of Stamford. The 1956 Chevrolet rolled several times. Park sustained a broken rib and concussion, Welch suffered scalp lacerations a broken rib and kidney injury, and Bounds had a broken rib and kidney injury. Oscie Renfrow investigated for the highway patrol.

March of Dimes Plans Started in Jones County

Early start in Jones County for the annual March of Dimes Infantile Paralysis fund drive. A C Berry county chairman outlined plans after a December 4 meeting at the Anson Hotel Coffee Shop with Jack Dupree state representative. Local chairmen and district directors were named and officers listed.

Decoration Winners Named in Stamford Contest

The Stamford Garden Club and Chamber of Commerce announced winners in the Christmas decoration contest. Outdoor prizes went to Dewane Elliott and Cecil Eager. door prizes to Brad Rowland and Edgar Filis. window prizes to W A Cierley and Holland Griggs. Each division awarded $6 and $4 respectively. Only entered houses were judged at the Chamber of Commerce office.
