Rev W G Fletcher was welcomed as the new pastor of St John s Methodist church after arriving from California. He preached Sunday and briefed the board on plans focusing on children and youth in church programs. The White Christmas program and annual offering followed, with large grocery and clothing donations and a flour gift from a Sunday school class.
In spite of extremely cold weather a large Stamford crowd attended the Charity Concert at the City Auditorium Monday night. Stamford artists performed and were well received. About $50 in cash was collected at the door for United Charities, while expenses were donated.

S S Long of Reseda California killed 120 chickens before finding the one that swallowed his wife’s diamond ring.
The Hardy Motor Company led by L. M. Hardy will continue Buick sales in Stamford and add Chevrolet as local dealer replacing Day Chevrolet. Hardy retains Bill Pase as Chevy mechanic and purchases Jay Chevrolet’s equipment, moving into the Day Chevrolet building. R. A. Bible of Bible Tire Store will occupy the former Day Chevrolet site.

Sam Morris scheduled to speak Sunday on WEAA Dallas tied to church protests and a campaign narrative. He and Mrs Merrie plan a Paris visit this week as a Christian cantata features at First Baptist with solos and a duet by Mrs Carter and Mr Adams.
Fire gutted the residence of Mr and Mrs J H Williams at 620 Bad Comrell Street early Friday. Williams, home alone, woke to flames, escaped with a few belongings. Loss estimated at 2,000 on structure and 1,000 on furniture.
Jon Barrett mayor of Anson died this morning after weeks of illness. Born in Randolph County Alabama in August 1860 he moved to Texas in 1880s and settled in Anson in 1906 serving his third mayoral term. Survived by wife and two sons Guy Barrett and Lonnie Barrett. Funeral at First Baptist Church of Anson Monday at 4 PM.
