After a Fort Worth hearing, Wichita Valley and MET railroads win authority to drop day passenger trains serving Stamford. Valley to remove trains 1 and 2 with earliest cut dates December 22, and MET to discontinue trains 37 and 38. Katy line also may drop Stamford to Waco daytime service on January 5. The Stamford Independent Ice Company has been purchased by Arledge Brothers of Rochester from F. T. Sanders and D. B. Earnest, the former owners. R. W. Arledge will lead the plant, and the business will keep the same location and firm name. The Arledge family has moved to Cook apartments on East Hamilton Street.

S McGregor Dies After Long Illness
S McGregor, 68, died at the family residence three miles east of Roe Ford Thursday at 10 30 after an illness of over 20 months. Born in Tennessee, he moved to Texas then to Jones County around Stamford’s founding, where he lived on a farm. Funeral Friday at the home with Rev. W C Moffett officiating. Burial in Highland Cemetery. Kinney Funeral Home in charge. He is survived by his wife and one daughter.

Christmas Tree Draws Big Crowd in Cold Weather
A large crowd of children and adults braved the north wind to attend the Community Christmas Tree at City Auditorium. Volunteers gathered groceries clothing and toys to be distributed next Monday and Tuesday by Ray Rector as chair. The Pastors Association led the event with help from local service and civic clubs. A Campfire Girls pageant directed by Mrs L M York preceded Santa Claus who distributed gifts and nuts candy and fruit.

P T A Allocates Fifty Dollars for School Playground
