Dry weather fuels cotton harvest as gins fill fast
Dry conditions persist for area cotton farmers with no rain in the past week and temperatures dipping to 16 degrees. More than 3000 bales were hauled to seven gins in seven days, led by Tuxedo’s Gillespie Gin with 1185 bales, followed by Smith Gin 913 and Farmers Coop Gin 894, with other gins posting smaller counts.

Gene Shackelford is named manager of the Stamford Housing Development Corporation units on South Anson Street, succeeding Darrell Woolwine who moved to the Denton Chamber of Commerce.
