Wednesday Services Held for Mrs. Chase
Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Kinney Funeral Home Chapel for Mrs. Darrell Chase 22 of Stamford born Posie Nell Morris. The shooting occurred Monday at 5 50 p.m. at her home and she died at the Abilene hospital chain. Justice Roscoe Hood ruled death by personal safety related gunshot wounds. She leaves a husband and two young children along with parents siblings and other relatives. Burial was in Trent Cemetery with Kinney Funeral Home in charge.

Eight teams compete in the Stamford Invitational at Bull dog Gym January 2 3 and 4. Stamford fields both varsity and B teams with Hamlin Aspermont Avoca Baird Jim Ned and Clyde among the opponents. Action starts 4 p.m. January 2 as Hamlin meets Aspermont, Stamford B at 5 30 p m vs Avoca, and Stamford varsity vs Clyde at 8 30 p m.

Sub Debs Collect 62.20 for Tuberculosis Drive

A bitter winter system hit the area Tuesday night with temperatures in the upper twenties and freezing rain expected through Wednesday. December began with moderate rain measured at 0.53 inches in Stamford, while intermittent sleet persisted into Wednesday morning and more sleet and freezing rain were forecast for the night and Thursday. Seven Stanfford High School band members earned spots in the All-District Band after Saturday tryouts in Anson.
