Farm Board Initiates Financing for 1929 Cotton Crop
Washington August 19 1929 The Federal Farm Board tentatively agreed to advance up to 90 percent of the value of cotton to cooperative associations through the Federal intermediate credit banks with 65 percent from the banks and 25 percent from the Farm Board to move this year’s crop. Total advances may reach 5 to 10 million dollars to prevent oversupply and permit orderly marketing while ensuring growers receive payment.

Company K 142nd Infantry of Stamford Texas National Guard arrives home after a 17 day encampment at Camp Palacios. Three officers and 47 enlisted men report a smooth training period with notable visitors General Lassiter and Governor Moody. Mrs M S Larche Dies From Wichita Falls Auto Injuries
Mrs. M S Larche sister in law of L E Larche of this city was struck by a car while crossing a street in Wichita Falls Sunday. She died Monday afternoon from injuries. Funeral services were held and the body sent to Lohn Texas for burial. She is survived by her husband and her mother Mrs F B Isaacs of Bowie. The accident occurred when she stepped in front of a car driven by Jack Laster as she dodged another vehicle.

Revival Meeting at Berryhill Ends in Five Conversions

Finis Goree Returns to Prison After Escape
Finis Goree, serving a 25 year sentence for killing his father in law near Stamford in 1925, is back in Huntsville penitentiary after a sensational escape last week that lasted less than two days. Goree and Elery Roberts of Potter county slugged a guard, seized vehicles, and were captured Friday night near Beaumont.

Several wells near Stamford show mixed results as drilling proceeds. Reynolds No 1 failed to reach pay sand at 1800 feet and will be anchored back to 1465 feet to exploit gas.
