Apology clears path for Stamford Day Care Center crisis

Ray L. Dunavant regional administrator for Region IV of the Texas Department of Human Resources apologized to the Stamford Day Care Center Board after budgeting errors caused overspending under the March 1, 1981 to Feb. 28, 1982 contract. Federal funds later covered May to July deficits, and the board learned that the local contract manager would be replaced. The center, licensed for 51 children, faces potential cuts due to Reagan era budget reductions and 17.7 percent Title 20 reductions, risking operation at current levels without additional funds.
