Midtex Tubular Services opens main plant in Stamford

A joint venture begins in Stamford with a 1.3 million plant near Jones Haskell Grain Co op. Midtex Tubular Services will start with 20 workers, may rise to three shifts, and serves Gulf Coast, Rocky Mountain, and Williston Basin markets. The facility features two 260,000 dollar Mazak Powermaster units and lies on seven acres leased from Burlington Northern.

Stamford posted an August sales tax rebate of 23 313 0 3 dollars, lifting the year total to 100 108 70 so far in 1981 and placing the city above the 100 000 mark. Haskell led area towns with 24 733 75 rebated while Hamlin showed the largest gain from 1980 at 15 46 percent. statewide, Houston topped rebates at 19 800 000 and Bob Bullock distributed 95 8 million to 952 cities.

A special fund has been set up at First National Bank for Sonny Coleman of the Rockdale community. Coleman is currently in a Houston hospital with cancer. Any contributions would be greatly appreciated by the family.

Jones County announces brand re-registration from Sunday through March 2 next year per County Clerk Bury Rye. Brands registered after August 30, 1971 and before August 30 this year must be examined by law. Re-registration occurs every 10 years. late filings could free brands for others.
