In 14 days the canning kitchen produced 3485 cans of peas spinach squash okra and corn all from the community garden except corn. 2777 peas 500 spinach 56 squash 42 corn 16 okra on hand with more planned including tomatoes. Plans include canning for farmers on halves and preserving mature peas for later use.

More than 800 boys and girls watched Buster Brown and his dog Tige at the Alcove Theatre. The appearance, arranged by L. Schwarz & Company, featured a talk on wearing Buster Brown shoes and a series of tricks by Tige. Beulah Peckham and O. D. Toney received shoes, and each child got a Buster Brown whistle as a souvenir.

Sunshine Special Date Is Changed to August 24
The annual Sunshine Special excursion sponsored by the Exchange Club is postponed from August 17 to August 24 after Home Demonstration Clubs secured encampment grounds on August 16. Missing Goods Recovered In Local Auto Theft Ring
Chief of Police G G Flournoy and Sheriff Jimmie Lee Gordon uncovered a car and auto accessory theft ring last week. Five men are jailed on burglary and theft charges for crimes at Seiberling tire shop Dodson Motor Company Branham Payne and Ted Casner plus jobs in Anson Haskell Wichita Falls and nearby towns. Loot recovered includes wheels tires casings and $75 worth of tires. Casner’s car was found in Sweetwater and arrests followed after a tip from Colorado City. The pair believe the ring spurred many recent auto thefts in the region.

Second Death In Wreck Report From Local Collision
G W Hawks aged 32 of Rule died in the sanitarium from injuries after a car driven with his father in law J H Chapin of Rule overturned on a curve west of Albany last Wednesday night. Hawks suffered a fractured skull punctured lung and internal injuries and was buried at Funston beside Chapin who died earlier. He leaves a wife two young sons Erwin and Waymon and his parents of Hawley along with four sisters and two brothers.

Woodman Circle Members Return From State Encampment
Mrs. Tressie Goldsticker and four Stamford girls traveled from Corpus Christi after a week at the Woodman Circle encampment with 690 registering. Activities included instruction, swimming, drills, and a $25 prize donated to the Dora Alexander Talley cottage fund. A gulf storm prompted a brief cottage evacuation, then residents returned. Stamford delegates aided a KFJI radio broadcast and the event plans to recur annually.

J. M. Fogleman Dies At Daughter's Home
J M Fogleman 75 died suddenly Saturday at 9 p m at the home of his daughter Mrs Jewel Sadler. Rev C R Hooton conducted the funeral at W N Kinney Funeral Home Sunday evening. Burial followed in Highland cemetery. He came to Jones county 35 years ago and lived in Stamford the last three years. Survived by three daughters Mrs Sadler Mrs FE L Horton of Abilene Mrs FE A Russell of Spur one son W H Fogleman of Dallas a sister Mrs Myrta Harrison of Dew and nine grandchildren.
