Funeral Rites Held For J Griffin High Exchange Club Leader
Funeral services for J Griffin High 41 president of the Stamford Exchange Club and civic leader were conducted at the Church of Christ with local and visiting pastors officiating. High died Saturday after a weeklong struggle following an appendix operation. Interment followed at Highland cemetery in Stamford.

Mrs J G Heald of Anderson Chapel Jones County won first prize in Class I wardrobe demonstration at the A M College Short Course, earning a Singer sewing machine. She competed with about ninety counties and will address Stamford Rotary Club next Tuesday. A Jones County delegation of 51 attended led by Miss Sue Bonner with 11 men and 7 boys among them. National Guard Unit Heads to Tenth Annual Camp
Company K of the 142nd Infantry Texas National Guard in Stamford will entrain today for its tenth annual camp at Camp Hulen. The unit, organized in 1923 by E. V. Hardwick W. G. Swenson and R. A. Fuqua, has a history of camps at Mabry Crockett Palacios and now Hulen. Training includes drills, hikes, guard duty and rifle practice with boxing swimming fishing wrestling baseball and softball as sports. Living conditions are described as ideal with strong sanitation measures.

Deaths From Auto Crash Near Albany
J H Chapin 48 of Rule died after a car overturning on a curve eight miles west of Albany. J W Hawk 32 of Rule suffered a punctured lung and fractured skull. Chapin died at Stamford Sanitarium Thursday morning with funeral set for Friday at 10. Survived by five children, three brothers, two sisters.
