Highway 18 Open To Traffic From Stamford Toward Lueders
Highway 18 from the Shackelford county line at Stamford toward Lueders is nearing completion with asphalt topping finished to two miles of Lueders. A seal coat will be applied in June, leaving the road in first class condition. Dexter Construction will extend work through Shackelford and Jones counties toward the Highway 1A junction nine miles west of Albany, with final touches by August 1.

Mrs J A Broadwell aged 64 died Thursday night April 18 after over four months illness from paralysis. A resident of this city for six years she came from Hubbard City. Survived by husband J A Broadwell two daughters Mrs J of this city and Mrs A Borger two sons J R Brady L Butts of Broadwell Dallas and Roy Broadwell Amarillo two brothers six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Out of town relatives attended the funeral including Mrs A L Butts Borger and Mr and Mrs Roy Broadwell Amarillo plus Mr and Mrs Charlie Hodges Abilene J R Broadwell Dallas Brady Ballinger and Nelson Waco. At St Johns Methodist Rev R A Stewart led a revival ending last Sunday with 30 new members admitted and about forty additions total. Evangelist Jimmie Smith preached on the unpardonable sin noting no sin is unpardonable if given up to God. About 50 conversions were reported over two weeks.
