The Stamford Electric Cooperative Inc. moved Monday into the Bettis building on North Svensen Avenue, remodeled to fit REA office needs with a finished front area for offices and a rear storage section. Stamford Production Credit Association will occupy half the former REA space and plans expansion.

Music Club Presents violinist and pianist concert
The Stamford Music Club hosted Herbert M. Preston violinist and Thurman Morrison pianist of Hardin-Simmons University Abilene in a public concert at First Baptist Church Tuesday night. Mrs. C M Francis welcomed attendees and introduced Mrs. C R Sims who led the program. The recital included a duet by both musicians a Morrison piano section and a Preston violin solo.

Misses Orie Lee and Valentine Bland, owners of the U Neat Beauty Shop, have bought the 276 North Swenson Avenue residence from A J Swenson. Remodel converts south rooms to a modern beauty shop while the north side becomes a two room apartment with bath. Upstairs will be a three room apartment with bath. Both apartments will be rented and the shop moves from the square the first of next week.

May 10 and 11 are set as special recognition days for the Lou Foote Flying School near Stamford. A chuck wagon feed at the Bunkhouse is planned May 10, followed by open house May 11 with inspections of the school, aircraft and Army equipment from Randolph Field to Arledge field five miles east of Stamford. Lieut. Max Diamond of the Air School urged a City County Health Unit to ensure proper inspection of foods affecting all county residents and cadets. The Exchange Club invited Louisiana state clubs to a joint convention with Texas clubs in Stamford this summer. An Easter Egg Hunt at Harmon Park divided into five age sections hid about 5 000 eggs with one prize egg bearing the Exchange Club emblem. winners included Teddy Ferrell Rudolph Nuto Richie Inez Lane Patricia Flemins and Estelle McCulloch. Boy Scouts aided the event and attendance was described as the best yet.

Narrow escape as fire endangers Wright home
Mrs. W H Wright survived a kitchen fire on East Oliver Street when an oil stove exploded as she prepared biscuits. A workman nearby pulled her from the flames and the fire department saved most areas, with extensive damage to the kitchen and closets and an unfurnished Easter outfit burned. The couple has no insurance and plans renovations.

Peanut Growers Vote on Marketing Quotas in April
Peanut growers will vote in a referendum on April 26 to decide whether marketing quotas shall be imposed this year. A two thirds majority is required to place quotas in effect, proposed by the AAA for the first time this year. if approved, loans or a diversion program or both may be offered to farmers in 1941 1942 and 1945.
